Baby Rattlesnake
Book Review:
Baby Rattlesnake is a folktale about a baby rattlesnake that
doesn't have his rattle yet and when given a rattle he misuses it. The
baby rattlesnake is very upset that he is the only rattlesnake that
doesn't have a rattle. He cries and cries until the rattlesnake people
give him a rattle. Once he is given the rattle he misuses it by scaring
other animal people. Something happens to the baby rattlesnake at the
end of the story that teaches him a lesson about misusing his rattle.
The illustrations are in bright southwest colors. The pictures are
surrounded by boarders that have different southwest designs. The story
is set in a desert surrounding so the illustrations show cactuses, desert
animals, open skies, and big mountains. The pictures are fun to look
at and tell a story without the text.
