Cactus Café

Book Review:

Experience life in the Sonoran Desert from the moment the sun rises till the sun sets. Learn about the saguaro cactus and how the flowers bloom and become fruit for the creatures of the desert. The creatures in the desert have different schedules and come out at different times of the night. Most creatures, such as the owl, bats, javelinas, and coyotes come out in the night. While in the day, the flowers bloom into fruit and the Tohono O'odham family come to set up camp. This book describes the Sonoran Desert and how the creatures survive, as well as the cacti. The back of the book has a glossary filled with information about the creatures and the plants in the desert. The illustrations in the book are beautifully detailed. The creatures are detailed and descriptive, allowing the reader to visualize what they look like in real life. The illustrations are all rendered in a brightly-colored fashion. The author left a brief summary at the end of the book about facts on the Sonoran Desert, leaving children with plenty of information on the Sonoran Desert.
