The Day It Snowed Tortillas

Book Review:

This is a fun book for students to read. There are many short stories included in this book. The title story is very creative. It discusses how a clever woman outsmarts some robbers. This book also contains a very popular Southwestern folktale, "La Llorona". This is a story about a woman who haunts the riverside. Many of these stories are versions of stories that I was told as a child by my family and relatives. It brings back many childhood memories of my family sitting down and my younger brother, our cousins and me telling traditional Mexican stories. I found the majority of the stories in this book to be somewhat of a representation of the Southwestern folktales which have been passed down through the generations.
