The Flute Player

This activity was done with a fifth-grade class at Centennial Elementary School in Tucson, Arizona. The students were asked half way through the book to make a prediction on what they thought would happen at the end of the story. This is a sample of the students' work.

I think that the girl will think that the boy is not playing anymore. Then she will leave and the boy will go by the river and play and wait for the leaf, but nothing will come. -Alexia

I predict that she will find him hunting, and then he will play his flute. She will put a leaf in the water because she likes his song.
-J.G.
