Little Gold Star/Estrellita de oro: A Cinderella Cuento

After hearing this book and comparing it to Bubba, the Cowboy Prince: A Fractured Texas Tale by Helen Ketteman, illustrated by James Warhola, students wrote which book they liked better and why. They also illustrated their writing and composed captions.

Estrellita de oro/Little Gold Star
A Cinderella Cuento
retold in Spanish & English

My favorite story is Little Gold Star because it has funny parts like the sisters have stuff on their heads like a donkey ear! And a green horn! I think it is cool and fun. It has a prince and he is going to marry Little Gold Star.

Estrellita de oro/Little Gold Star
A Cinderella Cuento
retold in Spanish & English

My favorite story is Little Gold Star. I like it because it had the story elements. Wow! I wish I was her. She left with the prince and she had a little gold star on her forehead. If I chose from a different version I will choose this one. This story is different because she didn't lose a glass slipper or a boot. They saw her bright and pretty gold star. She lived happily ever after.

Bubba the Cowboy Prince
A Fractured Texas Tale

My favorite story was Bubba the Cowboy Prince because it has lots of fairy tale elements. One element was magic, the way it used magic was that a fairy godcow appeared. It also used fairy tale words. It started with "once" and ended with "they lived happily ever after". Also because in Cinderella she lost a slipper and Bubba lost a boot. Then Ms. Lurleen noticed that there was a boot, she decided that who ever the boot belonged to, he was going to be her husband. It also used evil characters. The evil characters were the wicked stepdaddy, Dwayne and Milton. The setting was on a ranch.

Here Ms. Lurleen is dancing with Bubba, but the clock struck 12:00 am and the magic that Bubba had went away and he is ugly.

Bubba the Cowboy Prince
A Fractured Texas Tale

My favorite story is Bubba the Cowboy Prince because it's different. Instead of being a girl he was a boy. Another thing that I liked was the fairygod cow and the story elements. The story elements were "once" and "they lived happily ever after" Bubba's stepdad was ugly, the stepbrothers were ugly too like Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters. When Bubba's stepdad didn't let him go to the dance a fairygod cow appeared and made Bubba nice clothes. His boots were shiny but the magic was only gong to last until midnight. Finally, the clock struck, the magic ended and Ms. Lurleen saw Bubba with ugly clothes. Then Bubba ran away and left a boot. So Ms. Lurleen picked the boot up and went to every house until she found Bubba. Later Ms. Lurleen went to the last house. She finally found Bubba! They lived happily ever after.

Bubba, the Cowboy Prince
(A Fractured Texas Tale)

I liked Bubba the Cowboy Prince because it is better than Little Gold Star. I liked it because there's a Godfairy cow. I did not like the other one because it is pretty weird and because there is a lot of girls.
