Little Red Cowboy Hat

Book Review:

Little Red Cowboy Hat is another retelling of the famous folktale "Little Red Riding Hood." This colorful version uses the backdrop of the great Southwest scenery from cactus to the deep canyons to tell the famous story.

"Little Red" is sent to her grandma's ranch with homemade bread and a jar of cactus jelly. She encounters the wolf amongst the poppies, blue lupines, and the cactus. Out of her politeness and honesty she tells the wolf of her journey to her grandma's ranch. Upon reaching her grandma's, she can sense something is just not right. She finds grandma in bed looking and sounding not quite like herself. The wolf reveals himself and Little Red and her grandma chase him off the ranch never to be seen again.
