Storm on the Desert

I read Storm on the Desert to Mr. Carlos Encinas' fourth grade class at Hughes Elementary School in Tucson, Arizona. Before reading the book to the students, I did a webbing with them to reinforce images and ideas connected with the desert. After reading the book, I asked the students to create a drawing about the desert. The following are samples of their work:
