Two Cool Coyotes

Book Review:

Two Cool Coyotes is a wonderful picture book that tells the tale of two inseparable coyotes who live in the Sonoran desert. The characters, Frank and Angelina, do everything together! From tickling tarantulas, counting cloud bunnies, and teasing grumpy pumas, these silly coyotes are truly best friends. One day, Angelina moves away and Frank is left behind. Sad and lonely, Frank wonders if he will ever find another friend like Angelina. Frank doesn't have to wait long! Larry, a new coyote, moves in and soon these two cool coyotes embark on many new adventures together!

This is a story about friendship and learning to accept change. Children of all ages can relate to Frank and his challenge of finding a new friend. Frank was concerned that Larry would never be as special as Angelina. Frank quickly discovered that he and Larry could do many new things together. Ultimately, Frank learns that when a best friend moves away, it's ok for a new friend to be different.

The illustrations in this book are cartoon-like and kid friendly! Beautiful sunsets, vivid desert landscapes, and bright colors invite the reader into the daily life of Frank and his desert friends. From the big eyes and happy smiles on each of the character's faces, the reader is sure to feel like one of the gang. Jillian Lund did a fantastic job of writing and illustrating this charming children's story about friendship in the desert.
