Melanie Cooley is a senior at the University of Arizona. She went to Yavapai College for two years and then transferred to the University with her AA and AGEC degrees. Elementary Education wasn't her original major, but she realized her love for helping and teaching children so she quickly changed. Melanie was raised in northern Arizona. She hopes to stay in state and get a teaching job close to her family.

In the fall months, Melanie keeps busy by playing alto saxophone in "The Pride of Arizona Marching Band." while she is not practicing, Melanie works at the U of A Bookstore. Although she is not pursuing a degree in it, music is another love and interest for Melanie. She cannot wait to graduate and start her goal of teaching in the elementary schools. (Spring 2002)
