The House of the Scorpion

After reading The House of the Scorpion, junior English students at Cienega High School discussed what they would like to see author Nancy Farmer include in a sequel to The House of the Scorpion.

Second-period Students' Ideas:

Bruce wants to see a war between the eejits and their owners in a sequel. Joe wants to know how Matt is going to handle all of this power. Mike wants Matt to become the new overlord of Opium; will Matt be nicer then El Patron? Heather wonders if Maria will find someone new instead of Matt. Ernie wants Matt and Maria's relationship to develop. Maria predicts that Matt and Maria should get married. Richard wants Matt to begin acting like an animal after Maria leaves him and for someone to shoot him. Steven wants Matt to kill all of the eejits. Bruce wants Matt to clone Tam Lin so that their friendship can endure. Steven wonders if Matt will clone El Patron in order to keep his legacy going. Joe wonders if Matt will really allow Esperanza and the authorities into Opium.

Third-period Students' Ideas:

Brandon would like to see Matt and Maria together more in a sequel. Alex wants more violence in the form of gunfights and scarier scenes. Shane would like the sequel to have more of a "horror" feel to it. Victor would like a war between the drug lords, possibly with Matt; the drug lords would be fighting about territory. Justin wants the farmers to try to kill Matt because Matt is trying to make Opium different. Shanna wants Matt and Maria to get married in the sequel. PJ wants something weird to happen when Matt tries to bring the eejits back. Isaiah wants to see Matt take over the company. Hawke thinks that the U. S. and Atzlan might get into a war over territory. Curtis just wants to see more killing in the book. Overall students want more sex and violence. PJ would like for more of El Patron's secrets to be revealed. What would you like to see in a sequel? Do you agree with any of our thoughts/requests?
