The story was read to nine 6th-grade advanced ESL students in Mr. Ochoa's class at Apollo Middle School in Tucson, Arizona. The students were gathered in a semicircle as I sat in front of them to read the story. Before I began reading, we discussed the title of the book, the book cover illustration, and the author. As a group we predicted what the book was about based on the title and the cover illustration. I began reading the book and after a few pages I stopped, asking the students to predict what would happen next. After the book was read, the students each were asked to draw a picture and create a quote that represented a theme of the story.
