Children's responses: I read this book to a fourth/fifth grade class. They were asked to write or draw their responses on a piece of paper. Did they like the book? What was their favorite creature? How did the book make them feel? What was the most memorable thing in the book? Here are their responses:

This is a sketched picture taken from the book. It was drawn free-hand, not traced.

This is another drawing of a scene from a listener's mind

A story written by one of the listeners:

One day in the hot desert there were two bats. Everybody in the desert wondered why the two bats were in the hot sun. So Mrs. Tweety asked the bats why they were in the hot sun. "Well we are in the hot sun because everyone that comes out at night dared us to spend one day in the hot sun," said the two bats.

Late that night the two bats were not feeling very good. "I don't feel very good," said bat number one. "Me neither," said bat number two. The two bats felt like they were going to throw-up. They couldn't walk straight. They couldn't catch their food nor could they fly right.

"That's it. First thing in the morning I will find Randy Rabbit and let him know how sick I am," said bat number one. That night the two bats called Rony Rabbit. Ring. Ring

"Hello."

"Look buster I want to know why you let me get sick? You said I wouldn't get sick. I want to see you at 8:00 p.m." Click.

Randy Rabbit was scared. Then comes 8:00pm. The two bats went near Randy's house. They saw a note on his door. It read: "Dear Two Bats, my mom wasn't feeling well so I had to go to a doctor in L.A."

To be continued...
