Lost

Book Review:

Lost is the story of a beagle named Flag who gets separated from his family in Arizona's Tonto National Forest. Flag's owner, a little girl, tries desperately to find Flag for over a month. During this time, Flag is doing his best to survive in the harsh desert environment. He encounters everything from javelinas to a rattlesnake. Flag's desire to survive and be reunited with his owner is only paralleled by the little girl's love for her dog. Throughout the entire story neither the little girl nor Flag give up hope of finding each other.

The illustrations in Lost are unique in that the pages are split up so that on the left side the viewer sees what is happening in Flag's world. The right side illusrations are the pictures of how the little girl deals with the loss of her dog. Until the end, they are separated but the last page once again has them back together.
