Maya Moon

This book was read to a small group of second graders from Mission Manor Elementary. They were first asked to draw on a small chalkboard the different shapes of the moon. After a small discussion of why they thought the moon changed shape, and what the moon was made of, the children were eager to learn why the moon changed shapes. I explained to them the scientific facts about the phases of the moon, and to end our session I read to them the book. Afterward I asked them to color and write a response to the book.

I thought the moon was made of cheese.

Didn't a rabbit live on the moon?

Jesus Alfonso Zazueta

There is a picture of a green moon, looking down at a sleeping turtle.
