Sunpainters

After reading this book with Miss Marrufo's first through third grade reading class, we discussed the gift of color. The children then pretended that they were each one of the Na'ach'aahii, children painters, sent by Mother Earth to restore color. The students drew pictures of how they would paint the world if they were called on during a solar eclipse. They used their imaginations and painted the world using the colors that made them feel alive and joyful.

The drawing shows the sun bathing the mountain tops and house in red.

The drawing shows red clouds and a red mountain.

The drawing shows a red landscape.

The drawing shows a red and orange sun (wearing sunglasses).
