That's Good! That's Bad! In the Grand Canyon
Prior to reading the book, I decided to take the children on a long
book walk to show the vibrant illustrations which are a major part of
this book. The children were extremely amused with the child's antics
and how the illustrator was able to portray them. Some children were
able to connect with prior That's Good! That's Bad! books written
by the author. This lesson, on story sequencing, connected to a recent
one Mrs. Pelinski had taught to her 2nd grade class. The children each
drew a picture of what they remembered to be the beginning, middle and
end or sequenced events in the story. After completing the drawings,
the students illustrated their own book jackets and bound them together
with raffia. Here are some samples of the children's drawings.
