Watching Desert Wildlife

In March 2002, students from Hughes Elementary in Tucson, Arizona listened to my read aloud of Watching Desert Wildlife by Jim Arnosky. After absorbing the story, they drew pictures of their favorite Southwest animal and then told three facts about the animal. The elementary students also told one way to be safe in the desert after showing their picture. The read aloud went very smoothly and the students eagerly participated.
