Cactus Hotel
Book Review:
Experience life in the beautiful Sonoran Desert through the life of
a saguaro cactus. From the fruit falling off of an older cacti, to the
seeds being planted in creation of another cacti, to the growth of the
cacti hundreds of years in the making, to the death of the cacti, this
cacti lived as a hotel. Animals great and small used this cactus as
their hotel. The jackrabbits cools off in the shade of the cacti, the
birds eat from the nectar, the woodpecker makes a hole for his home
and as the cactus lays dead on the ground, a ground snake huddles next
to it to become cool. The pictures are brightly illustrated and very
well done. The author and illustrator come together in harmony to show
the life of a cactus in the desert. At the end of the book, the author
provides a full page of information about the saguaro cactus, what they
drink and how they survive. This would be a great book to share with
kids, both great and small.
